June 21st is marked on the calendars of music lovers. This day isn't just the summer solstice – it's also International Music Day, a vibrant global celebration of the power of music to unite, inspire, and uplift. The young music enthusiasts of Class 1 embraced the joy of music that transcends borders and languages. They practised ‘Saptak’ with the teachers of the DPS Surat Music Department. Indian music is based on the concept of Saptak, which translates to ‘seven’ and refers to the seven musical notes. The young music fans were also introduced to the four types of instruments, i.e. the String Instruments, Percussion Instruments, Wind Instruments and Keyboard Instruments. These four types of instruments are used worldwide and are a great starting point for learners. In a nutshell, the day proved to be a platform for celebrating the rich tapestry of musical traditions from every corner of the world.
