Philately is more than just the collection of stamps; it’s a gateway to a rich and engaging educational experience, offering valuable insights into history, geography, art, culture, and the traditions of different nations. The intricate designs featured on stamps allow collectors to develop a deeper appreciation for the artistry and craftsmanship involved in their creation and printing.

In a bid to encourage and nurture this educational hobby, the Department of Post launched the Deen Dayal SPARSH Yojana, a Scholarship Scheme aimed at students from classes VI to IX. The scheme, which stands for the Scholarship for Promotion of Aptitude & Research in Stamps as a Hobby, seeks to award annual scholarships to students who not only excel academically but also demonstrate a keen interest in philately. Students from Delhi  Public School Surat had the privilege of participating in this prestigious initiative, which brought together philatelists, stamp collectors, and enthusiasts from various backgrounds. The competition was organized in two phases: the first phase involved a quiz on Indian culture, heritage, and current affairs related to philately, while the second phase required students to present a project showcasing their stamp collections. Among the nine students who participated in the event, ANAYA ABHISHEK CHOKSI from Grade VII E stood out by making it to the second round. She excelled in her project presentation and will shortly receive a scholarship of ₹6000 by the Department of Post, in recognition of her exceptional passion and knowledge of philately. This experience not only provided valuable learning opportunities for Anaya but also served as an inspiration to others, encouraging more students to take up philately as a rewarding and educational hobby.
