"The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step." Dipsites of class VII took that first step into a world of history, culture, and nature during their outbound learning expedition to Bhopal from January 4 to January 16, 2025. The students visited significant UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including the Udaygiri Caves and Bhimbetka Rock Shelters, where they explored ancient rock-cut sculptures and prehistoric cave paintings. These historical sites offered valuable insights into India’s ancient history and culture. Another major highlight was the visit to the Sanchi Stupa, where students not only learned about its Buddhist heritage but also enjoyed a captivating light and sound show and a laser fountain show, enhancing their understanding of the monument’s historical significance. In addition, they scouted a range of museums, such as the Mankind Museum, the Tribal and State Museum, and the Army Museum, where they gained a deeper understanding of human evolution, tribal cultures, and India’s military history. The visit to Van Vihar, a zoological park, introduced them to diverse wildlife, while the exploration of the Bhojpur Temple offered a glimpse into ancient temple architecture. The group also visited Bharat Bhavan, a centre for the arts, and the Shaurya Smarak, a memorial dedicated to the Indian Army’s brave soldiers. These visits not only educated the students about India’s artistic and military heritage but also fostered a sense of patriotism. Throughout the trip, students participated in various on-field tasks, which included research, guided observations, and creative reflections aiding them internalise the knowledge gained during the trip. The expedition not only broadened their academic horizons but also stimulated a sense of connection to India’s rich cultural fabric, leaving them with lasting memories and valuable insights.
