On 16 & 17 August 2024, Science Centre Surat hosted a Science Fair centred around the theme Indigenous Technologies for Viksit Bharat. The event aimed to highlight the importance of indigenous innovations and their role in building a self-reliant and developed India (Viksit Bharat). The exhibition featured various projects that showcased how traditional knowledge and modern science can collaborate to create sustainable and practical solutions
for the country’s development.
Arnav Agrawal, Ayansh Shah, Ishaan Agrawal and Yashvi Maiwala of Delhi Public School Surat from grade X participated in the exhibition. Their project displayed “Indigenous technologies for Agriculture”, focusing on agricultural innovations. Students presented different types of agricultural techniques like Zai Pits, Qanat System, Waru Waru, Floating Gardens / Chinampas practiced in various parts of the world and methods for its implementation in India. The exhibit also demonstrated how agricultural waste can be utilised to form Bio-coal Briquettes / white coal using briquette-making machines. Participants presented their findings with enthusiasm, demonstrating thorough research and hands-on experimentation. Educators, students, parents, and local community members, appreciated the participants for their exceptional work and potential for future research.
