On 03 September 2024, Delhi Public School Surat hosted DPSS Youth Parliament, a platform designed to engage students in the democratic process and encourage civic involvement. The event provided an opportunity for students to discuss pressing issues, propose solutions, and practice parliamentary procedures. With the overall aim to strengthen the roots of democracy, inculcate healthy habits of discipline, tolerance of the views of others and to enable the youth to understand the working of the Parliamentary institutions, DPSS Youth Parliament 2024 was conducted for the students of class 9 and 10. Students of classes 9 and 10 ABCD ran the Lok Sabha and students of 9 and 10 EFGH were part of Rajya Sabha. Students had to go through two rounds of selection based on general awareness, speaking and debating skills. Youth Parliament typically mirrors the structure of a national parliament and consists of several key components. It aims to involve youth in political discussions, legislative processes, and decision-making activities, helping them develop leadership skills and understand governance. Members at DPSS Youth Parliament were engaged in structured debates on a range of topics relevant to their peers and communities. These debates helped refine their arguments and public speaking skills. Participants were facilitated with trophies and certificates under categories of Best Speaker Ruling Party, Opposition and Other Parties in both the houses.
