On 30 December,2024, Class VIII students at Delhi Public School, Surat, had the privilege of attending an insightful guest lecture on IVF, conducted as part of their Science curriculum. The session was delivered by Dr. Sweta Patel, a leading expert in infertility treatment and women’s health. The session served as a gateway to understanding the intricate workings of reproductive science and the marvels of modern medicine Dr. Patel began with an overview of the female reproductive system, followed by an explanation of oogenesis, spermatogenesis, and the techniques used in sperm analysis. She then transitioned to natural fertilisation and introduced the concept of In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF), explaining its necessity and the sophisticated equipment involved, such as laminar flow systems, micro-manipulation setups, and advanced incubators. Through a step-by-step guide, she demystified the IVF process, highlighting egg and sperm freezing techniques and their significance. The lecture concluded with an engaging Q&A session, where Dr. Patel patiently addressed the students’ queries, resolving doubts and fostering curiosity for advancements in medical science.
