On October 17 and 18, 2024, DPS Surat Class XI Commerce students visited the Agriculture Produce Market Committee (APMC) in Surat for an immersive exploration of agricultural trade and processing activities. APMC plays a pivotal role as a key marketplace for agricultural products, facilitating the sale and distribution of produce from farmers to retailers. It ensures fair pricing, efficient marketing practices, and helps stabilize the agricultural economy. The visit commenced with an informative session that introduced students to APMC’s functioning and operations. The team provided a detailed explanation of the bio-gas production process, where vegetable waste is transformed into renewable energy. Students also explored the food processing unit, where mango and tomato pulp are produced. The discussions covered various aspects of marketing, packaging, and the different types of trade practices within the agricultural sector. The visit to APMC offered students invaluable insights into waste management, food processing, and trade practices, bridging the gap between theoretical concepts and their real-world applications. The hands-on learning experience provided a deeper understanding of the agricultural sector's role in the economy and highlighted the importance of sustainable practices.
