A 3 hour long hands on workshop by the faculty of École Intuit Lab, Mumbai on ‘Unlocking Creativity: Principles of Design’ was held on October 16, 2024, for interested students of classes XI and XII. This session provided a valuable opportunity for students to gain insights into the creative world of design. The session was graciously facilitated by Ms. Ahona Banerjee, a concept artist and Art Lecturer in École Intuit Lab, Mumbai. She was also accompanied by Mr. Juben Thakur, Associate Director- Outreach, and Mr. Zaigam Ameen, Assistant Manager of École Intuit Lab, Mumbai.
The session began with Ms. Ahona talking in detail about the main principles of design with apt examples from cinema, media and regular life. There were a lot many visual examples shown to the students to make them understand these principles in detail, after which an hour long activity was done by the students, wherein they had to design any concept integrating as many of these principles as possible. The idea was to think creatively, out of the box and come up with something which would be unique as well as an amalgamation of all the principles taught. The students were also asked to give a brief presentation of their work, enumerating the main concept, and the related principles highlighted. There was a great deal of excitement amongst the students, and the work presented was indeed insightful and thought provoking. It was the first hands on engagement for the students in a workshop designed solely to give them a first-hand experience of a world that they are about to venture into, and the experience indeed appeared to be an exhilarating one for all of them, thus, giving them more information that would be useful for their Undergraduate Studies.
