On 30 July 2019, an Inter-DPS Squash Championship was hosted by DPS Surat under the aegis of the DPS Society. The Guest of Honour Mr Anshul Kothari, Chief Referee Mr Manish Chavan and the Principal of DPS Surat Mr P Vamshi Krishna lit the inaugural lamp. Mr Anshul Kothari is a noted swimmer who has won laurels for our state as well as our country. He has represented India in the Commonwealth Games 2010 and the Asian Games in 2010, 2014 and 2018. He obtained dual degrees from prestigious institutes such as Indian School of Business, Hyderabad and SVNIT, Surat. He addressed the gathering and declared the DPS National Squash Championship (Boys) open. The participants, referees and the coaches took the oath to ensure that the game was played with honesty and sportsman spirit.
Seven schools from the DPS group, including DPS Surat, participated in the Championship. All of them vied for the much-coveted trophy. After the Championship games were played, everyone gathered for the Prize Distribution and the valediction ceremony. The prize for the best player in the individual category was bagged by Sankalp Anand from DPS R K Puram. The prize for the best team was secured by DPS RK Puram. The trophy for the Best Player of the Championship was awarded to Sankalp Anand from DPS R K Puram. The exciting day finally came to an end and it taught everyone a lesson that winning is not as important as playing the game with the right attitude.
