The Student Council of Delhi Public School Surat ran a campaign on 12 October 2017 aiming to promote a cracker-free Diwali. The message of ‘Fumes Free, Pollution Free Diwali was very well imparted through interesting and thought provoking presentations. They emphasised the students to abstain from burning crackers and spread love and universal brotherhood. The presentations also threw light on one of the burning issues of the world, ‘Child Labour’. By saying no to crackers, we are saving innumerable young lives working under hazardous situations in fireworks industries. The students were encouraged to celebrate the festival in traditional way by making rangolis, lighting lamps and decorating their homes. It was indeed a novel attempt to celebrate ‘Green Diwali’ and contribute their bit to a pollution- free world by spreading the true essence of the festival.
