A poetry reading is a public oral recitation or performance of poetry. Voice is an active, physical thing in oral poetry. It needs a speaker and a listener, a performer and an audience. The voice is the mechanism by which a "poet's voice" comes alive. In order to see which students were capable of being the voice of the poet and express his feelings well, a Poem Recitation Competition was held in Delhi Public School Surat on Friday, 21 October 2016. One poet was allotted to students of each section across classes VII to X. The poets selected were William Wordsworth, Lord Tennyson, P B Shelley, Robert Frost, Lord Byron, John Keats, William Blake and Robert Browning. Students participated with great enthusiasm and showed their prowess at recitation.
