Information has become a vital source for world economies and is certainly the basic component of education. It is a vital element to technological and scientific change and poses several challenges to individuals in all walks of life. Thus, information is the first step to gaining knowledge and the library is a key place in the new information age of modern society. It serves as a central workshop where students can develop reading habits and teachers can supplement the curricular needs of students, and pursue action research.

The DPS Surat Library and Resource Centre is the heart of the school and it started beating from day one of the school’s existence on 11 April 2003. It caters to the intellectual needs of all our students, teachers and many non teaching staff as well. DPS Surat has 3 libraries: one for Pre Nursery to Class II, the second for Classes III-VI and the third catering to Classes VII-XII. The library is centrally automated with Quick School software, a complete school management system. While books are the heart of our collection, a myriad of visual, audio and electronic resources are available to enrich individual learning needs for all members of the school community.

The Circulation Sectioncontains over 10,000 books issued and returned through bar-code reader mode, which also enables enquiries regarding availability of library materials, reminders, decisions on the suitability of books for the borrower and suggestions for acquiring new books. Our collection includes novels, biographies, fiction, as well as books on 20 subject areas including general awareness, philosophy, ethics, language learning, personality development, religion, history, art and craft, cookery, sports, computers, science and other academic topics for examinations.
